Deep in Finnish Lapland, the village of Akaslompolo lies at an altitude of 220m and is 200km north of the Arctic Circle. It is a captivating place, and many skiers return year after year, drawn by the combination of excellent skiing and comfortable accommodation. At night you have the chance to see the Northern Lights whilst during the day there's almost 300km of well-designed tracks to choose from. Surrounded by the peaceful old forests of the Pallas-Yllas Nature Park, on most days we ski across the Lake Akaslompolojarvi towards the fells, taking in some breathtaking scenery. Some tracks are fairly flat and it is possible to ski long easy circuits from our hotel. Other loipe climb over the area's 'seven fells' - rounded hills reaching 700m. From their summits we can look east towards Russia or west to the border with Sweden. Cross-country Skiing Grades - This holiday is Grade 2 or 3(Please see Dates & Prices page for more details)

Accommodation
Yllas Humina Hotel
The family-run Yllas Humina is in a peaceful location at the foot of Yllas fell, on the shores of Lake Äkäslompolojärvi. Designed with the cross-country skier in mind, the loipes begin directly from the hotel, and at the end of the day you can relax with a traditional Lappish sauna and outdoor hot tub. Our comfortable twin and single rooms are in rustic log-cabins a short walk from the main building which houses a restaurant offering many local dishes.
