Superb range of cross-country skiingBeautiful valleys and stunning mountain sceneryNo single room supplement (subject to availability)
Just south of historic Innsbruck, our base is the authentic and charming Tyrolean village of Trins, set at about 1200m. This quaint village allows access to a large variety of skiing areas. To the west, two beautiful valleys, Gschnitztal and Obernbergtal, extend to the great peaks and glaciers of the Stubai Alps. A third valley, Schmirntal, rises east into the Zillertal Alps. On this holiday we ski in all three, exploring meadows, woods, quiet villages and working farms. A fourth skiing location is available at Mariawaldrast (1700m), a unique mountain location which combines high-altitude skiing and a former mediaeval Servite monastery, with a welcoming cafe where you may well be served by the last remaining monk. Each of these regions offers spectacular scenery in peaceful locations, and after a hard day's skiing we can relax in the hotel bar for afternoon tea and fresh cakes. FREE SKI HIREBook a flight inclusive place on any of the following departures: 02/01/2010 (Grade 1) and 09/01/2010 (Multigrade 2 & 2+), and we will deduct the equivalent cost of local ski hire from the price of the trip*. If you are bringing your own skis, then ski carriage will be free of charge (airline usually charges £15) . *NB: you will then still pay locally in Euros directly to the ski hire shop. NB: this offer is open to new bookings only. Winter Walking: Trins: Don't forget that our winter walking trip to Trins also stays at Hotel Wienerhof, so it is possible for two people to share a room but enjoy different activities (see CAT for trip details).
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1Start Trins.
Day 2-7
We prefer not to specify in advance where we will ski each day. This is to enhance the flexibility and adapt to weather and snow conditions and to some extent the ability of each group. When choosing routes, the leader's priority will be to take in a variety of scenery and to ensure that participants become better and more confident skiers as the week progresses.Examples of skiing options: From Trins skiing routes descend to the historic town of Steinach, or gently rise up through meadows and woods to the head of the valley - ideal for beginners. Up at 1700m is Mariawaldrast, a unique mountain location that combines high-altitude skiing and a former medieval Servite monastery. There's a welcoming cafe too, where you may well be served by the last remaining monk. In the picturesque Schmirntal, our routes pass quiet villages and working farms. Almost as untouched is the Obernbergtal, where we ski past the beautiful church of St Nikolaus. As this is a multi-grade holiday, where specified there are two grades of skiing offered by two leaders. When just one grade is specified, the trip will run alongside a winter walking trip also staying in Trins.
Day 8
End Trins.
