Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need malaria tablets/mosquito net?Consult your doctor on which course of anti-malaria tablets is recommended. Protect yourself from getting bitten by wearing light-coloured clothing; use mosquito repellent containing the compound 'Deet' on exposed areas of skin and on clothing. Mosquito nets are difficult to hang and, in reality, may be of little use.
Do I need a sleeping bag/mat?You need a sleeping bag or sleeping sheet depending on the time of year (in the hills in winter it gets cold in the morning). Sleeping mats are also necessary - but you can use the traditional mats provided in the tribal houses.
How fit do I have to be?If you are a fairly active person in your normal everyday life, you'll manage this trek. The fitter you are the better. Hill walking requires stamina and determination as much as anything.
