Tour Overview
Medinas, Ruins & Oases
After the twisting alleyways of Tunis old town, the ruins of ancient Carthage and the world famous Bardo museum you go south. Travelling via Kairouan - one of Islam's holiest cities - and the remote Roman ruins at Sbeitla, you reach palm-filled mountain oases and the old trading station of Tozeur. The scenery becomes surreal as you head towards the Sahara across vast salt flats.

Sahara, Star Wars & Sousse
Trek by camel to spend a night under the desert stars and watch the dunes change colour with the dawn. There is the chance to stay in a troglodyte dwelling, made famous in the film Star Wars. Turning north you visit the imposing El Djem amphitheatre before winding down in the coastal souks and medina of Sousse.

El Djem Amphitheatre
The third largest in the Roman world, strikingly complete and imposing beyond words. As you walk through the tunnels under the arena or take your place in the stands you can sense the atmosphere, hear the clash of weapons and feel the 45,000 strong crowd roar as gladiators battle on the sun-baked sand.
