SAHARA DESERT TREK(Trip #59783)

Tour Overview

Trekking through the endless dunes of the world's largest desert, the Sahara
Our trek starts from the bustling oasis town of Douz, a desert gateway near the great salt lake of Chott el Jerid. We soon pass beyond the furthest point reached by day-trippers, entering a landscape of peaceful dunes glowing gold in the evening light. For five nights we camp in a traditional Bedouin tent, swiftly erected by our camp team while cooks prepare dinner on open fires, even baking Saharan bread in the warm sand. The trek takes us southeast through this barren, yet tranquil and beautiful landscape to the refreshing oasis of Ksar Ghilane. This unusual and rewarding trek is an experience never to be forgotten. The Observer - writes about The Sahara Desert Trek Adventure (21 September 2008). Quote from the article: '...the desert seems to be a place a person should visit during a well-lived lifetime.'Psychologies Magazine - Sophie Stewart heads into Tunisia's Sahara Desert for a group trek (October 2008).
