Day 1 Start Kota Kinabalu; afternoon free to explore.
Day 2 Full day exploring Mt Kinabalu N.P. and Sabah tea plantation.
Day 3 Transfer to Sandakan, free afternoon.
Day 4 Boat ride to spectacular Turtle Island.
Day 5 Visit Sepilok mangrove and forest reserve by boat, afternoon forest walk to resthouse.
Day 6 Visit Sepilok Orang-Utan Sanctuary; travel on Kinabatangan river to Batu Puti village. Visit WWF MESCOT project working to preserve local environment; overnight in eco-lodge.
Day 7 Excursions into forest where we hope to see elephants, orang-utans and endemic bird life.
Day 8 Leave Batu Puti and visit Danum Valley Conservation Area, a vast area of protected lowland forest.
Day 9-10 Two full days to explore this wonderful reserve with expert local guides. This region is at the forefront of tropical rainforest research, and is home to gibbons, orang-utans, elephants and hundreds of different bird species.
Day 11 Fly to Kota Kinabalu, afternoon free.
Day 12 Fly to Mulu N.P. Sunset walk to Deer Cave for spectacular bat exodus.
Day 13 Full day exploring the park.
Day 14 Day to relax or enjoy optional activities.
Day 15 Fly to Kuching, capital of Sarawak, free to explore.
Day 16 Morning visit to Semenggoh Orang-Utan Centre and Bidayu tribal longhouse, overnight in longhouse.
Day 17 Transfer to Bako N.P; free to relax and swim in this coastal park.
